ok so i went to a fish store two days ago and they had like 10 stergeon and the water temp in the tank was like 90 degreees no joke. so i wne thome did some research and decided id go back and save the rest ! so i went back and there was only one left! so i debated with my self over and over agioan and finally bought it. so i set up an emergency rubbermiad container and hooked up my 2 powerheads for current and aeration (good ideas right?) so hes my problem, he is having some trouble staying oriented, his butt keeps floating, much like a bichir that has to fart... so is it the same thing? or do i need to help him out with soem sort of med.....

HELP!!! HELP!!!!

o and just so i dont get flamed, im his foster parent i have almost no intent to keep him on my own, once hes back to health he will be availiable for adoption, or i may just dig him a pond, i dont know hes sooo cute tho

i need him ided too, i8ll post pics in a few

Nice sturgeon you got there did you add salt to the rubbermaid? and was that cycled water or new tap water?

didnt want to put too much stress on the fish by adding salt right away, was waiting to saterday to do that, and its fresh tap that was trated, all my tanks with cycled water were too warm at the moment, any idea on what kind he is ???

i entirely agree, as ive already stated i have no intetnion to keep it forever just till its eating and at a stable condidtion , then its going to another aquarist that can provide it with the proper housing and enviroment

Pics are a little dark, but looks like a shovel nose or a white.
Good luck. The trouble your seeing with orientation in the water is due to the higher temps. Give him long enough in a proper range and he should come around. I've seen it happen a lot with sturgeon.

Where are you located?

say the temp is 76 put salt in and lower the temp 1-2 degrees a day so he does not go into shock or get really stressed.provide him with plants and hiding places for the top and middle lvels of the rubbermaid.give him melafix and brine shrimo and krill.or anything else that is meaty.

I saw the same thing at a LFS yesterday. They had a pair of sturgeon doing death rolls. So I put my hand up to the tank and its like 86 degrees! Unbelieveable

im in cali, ya ill offer him some bloodworms and krill tommarow, really hope he comes around.....
