So, I have a juvenile Brown Basilisk in a 65 gallon terrarium. If I can find a Chinese Water Dragon of about the same size, can they be housed together?

Why?
What is it with the people on this site constantly trying to house things together? There is no reason for it and in the vast majority of cases it causes MUCH more harm to all involved than any good.
Community vivariums CAN be achieved with a lot of money, space and attention but cohabbing to species so similar is just asking for trouble.
Also.. BOTH those species will need a much bigger habitat before to long, a 65 gallon cannot even house one of those comfortably for more than a year.
IF you MUST creative a community vivarium do it with small species that occupy DIFFERENT niches in their similar environments In a VERY big enclosure.... for example and arboreal nocturnal animal with a terrestrial diurnal cage mate. Minimizing contact and interaction is the key and even then there are a number of health issues that can arise and if one gets sick the other will.
Simple answer is to just not mix species.

It is a fish keeper mentality, people on this site are used to being able to keep fish together and mix them from all over the world but they do nt realize it is not the same with reptiles.

Answering your question OP, yes it can be done but no it should not be done. It might work when they are babies but they can become territorial and begin to stress each other out or fight. not to mention they have different heating and humidity needs.

...i think mainly it's because at pet shops you see reptiles put together. Beardies and leopard geckos......etc. In the wild reptiles are solitary to their species. You can only get away with probably green and brown anoles from hat I've heard. Still it isn't such a great idea.

I ask in case there are specific reasons why one should or should not keep species together. Example: Glass Catfish need groups to stay alive. Another good one: I own a 55 gallon aquarium. Both my bichir and my arowana require that size at their current growth stage, but I'm not about to buy two tanks, because both will be fine together. There are animals that will live happily in community tanks, I just wanted to know if the Basilisk was one of them.
By the way, thank you to everyone who actually posted an answer.
