Would an electric blue lobster be compatable with a jack dempsey in a 90 gallon tank? would I need to do anything special (feeding, pH, hideing spots) for the lobster?

how big is the lobster, and how big is the dempsey? The lobster might pick off the dempsey in the middle of the night.

the dempsey is 5", and I havn't got the lobster yet - I think that I
will add other central american cichlids later - nothing is in the tank now because it is cycling.

tough to say for sure. if the JD is too big, he'll eat the lobster. if the lobster is big enough, he'll pick on the JD. just make sure you feed both well and give them both plenty of hiding places

When crayfish molt; their body is the consistancy of jello until the shell re hardens in about 24-48 hours.
If you have an aggressive fish(of any kind) you will most likely lose your crayfish when it molts.

I have seen it happen.

i think toehead is right, just as long as both parties are pretty well fed one shouldnt bother the other, ive seen in a few fish stores owners keeping those lobsters with jd's and other pretty semi agrressive fish, with little or no problems

We own and run(my husband and I) a crayfish farm where we import, breed and raise and sell Walkamin G Striain Redclaw and we have been in business for about 6 years now and it doesn't really matter the size of the crayfish and the fish. It is more a matter of which is more aggressive and even if neither is you will probably lose the crayfish when he molts because fish find them wonderful treats and easy targets after a molt.

I don't observe them at fish stores. I am the person that sells them to the fish stores and I walk outside every morning and tend to the 32 tanks that are 800-1200 gallons each.

Keeping even semi aggressive fish with crayfish is only asking for trouble reguardless of the size of either!
