I was just wondering if any body has ever tried putting a blue craw fish in a cichlid tank they are really cool looking and i wanted to know if i could add one the thing im scared my cichlids would tare it apart unless i bought it full grown 10 inches for 125 or 1.5 inches for 9 dollars if any body konws let me know.

Crayfish would not eb a good idea for either of the 2......your fish will either eat it or pick it apart, or the crawfish will claw at ur cichlids while they sleep and try to eat them........crawfish are scavengers as you might know.....and both will try to eat each other or harm one another....it would only be a matter fo time.....

i threw a 2" crawfish in with me full grown malawi tank and when i broke it down months later i found it doing fine.

A crayfish w/ small Africans is not a good idea. The crayfish will hunt them at night. Or if the Africans are large enough, it coud be a pricey feeder. Either way not really a good idea. Give the crayfish it's own tank. They are pretty cool to watch do there own thing.

The other thing is, the crayfish could prob. do a little damage to fish it tries to catch but are to big. Anywho I wouldnt try it either. Although In my sump I did have a crayfish with a 3-4inch goldfish that lived fine together.
