I plan on setting up a 125 gal tank. My question is out of a pair of Red saums , True Green terrors, Thorichthys sp. ‘Mixteco blue’, and rainbow cichlid. What two pairs would most likey work in a 125 gal, the catch is one of the pair has to be either the saum or true green terror. If this can be done at all help please

ps. also can any of the four work in a 90 gal , i know the mixteco blue and rainbow cichlids can work in a 40 gal breeder cuz i have that currently working now

Thorichthys sp. ‘Mixteco blue’, and rainbow cichlid.

I have almost that same setup in one tank and both pairs spawn.

rainbows and mixtecos could definitely be together, but if I were to put one pair with the saums, it would probably be the mixtecos, but neither mixtecos or rainbows are a good choice to mix with the saums

Mostly because mixtecos and rainbows are not large-growing species, and neither is particularly aggressive.

Your best bet would be to have the regular red saums is you want to put anything else with them. True green terrors, despite their size, truly live up to their name, at least most of the time, whereas the saum is more likely to be docile. However, as with any cichlids, when breeding any of them will be super aggro. I wouldn't go with 2 pairs of fish with that mix, in just a 125 gallon. Maybe a pair along with some community type fish around them. Any of the terrors will likely just murder the other two fish you listed, either that or stress them to death . . .
