thinking about redoing my tank with all peacock bass or all dats my question is do you think these 2 would work together in a 180..about 6 of each species

next question thinking about getting rid of my sand and putting black tile on the bottom with only my 5 foot piece of manzita driftwood inside...would the tile be toxic??

waaaaay too many fish for a 180 if that's gonna be for life

I dont think that you need as big of a tank as most fish are rated for. In your case I do think that you need a bigger tank for six of each. I think you would be golden with four of each. You could always try for six of each and if there is not enough room you can trade in fish, specifically the ones that grow up to be ugly, or there is always the chance that a fish might not make it.

Yeahhhh, just because they all fit in the water, doesn't mean it will actually work. I'd say a minimum for stock like that is an 8 foot tank.

thats still waaaaay too much..

if you can keep the sizes near the same for both species id say yeah... a while back i thought my teminsis was near the same size and they were. The tem sucked tried eating my dat and oth almost died. had to net the bass and make him spit out the dat. he almost couldnt.. dats grow slow and p bass grow fast... im sure at some time the bass will try to eat the dats if they were growing at the same time...... im sure your not going to spend tons of money on semi grown out dats....wheres the funn? GL buddy!!

+1. Large fish are not always easy to get rid of either.
