Sounds like a possible combo, they will need to be of a similar size and the tank will need to be large anyway. These barbs are sub tropical i think so the tank will need to be kept around 25c to suit the tropical pleuro.
I have never kept these barbs but from what I know they are quite fast, this may unsettle the pleuro.
Good luck.
a really bad combination. The barbs come from rivers that can get really cold in some times (H. Bleher reports on Kerala rivers, see practicalfishkeeping articles) and the pleuro come from really warm slow streaming rivers or from ponds. Pleuros really need warm water. And after a short period of time the barbs will end as food for th epleuro. Dont matter how fast they are, pleuros ar hunters from the open water, they can get really fast too.
Yeah thats what i thought.. it's back to the drawing board.
any suggestions as to what kind of fish i could mix with C. Pleuros in a 420g tank
with DW and a bit of plants?
oh okey, thanks for the info Bruki.
what can you suggest i put in with my 3 pleuros? i would be moving them to a 420 g tank soon. i hope i could put some other fish with them. they are currently 5-6 inches
i'd suggest going for a purely pleuro tank with maybe some monster cats if that's what you're into. have a tank with only pleuros looks great because they all school together
well i want to add different colors and species to my tank but if i cant look for a suitable tankmate, guess i have to stick to a 1 species tank. its hard to find pleuro's here in the philippines thou so, i have to wait
