Okay, so i have bought 2 discus today with more coming, i have a 38 gallon tall tank with 2 AC power filters, 1 is a AC 300 and another is a mini. I bought 12 tiger barbs that were housed with some silver dollars that didnt have a problem so i thought it would be okay. So a few questions, is this okay?? I also want to know the maximum of discus i can put in the tank. I also need to know what is another species of fish to put in the tank because i have some caves and some hideouts that i wanted to use for some other fish, example, would bumble bee catfish or cacatoo chiclids work?? I will have some pics by tonight of my setup and my fish, thanks.

no tigerbarbs nd silver dollars with discus too aggressive, no bumble bee catfish too agressive.

in your tank i'd do three. discus get huge, you need to do 2 50% water changes a week.its 38gallon, a tiny tank, so three is pushing it, they stunt very easily.

3 discus and 2 or 3 bristlenose and 6 neons
maxx.

prepare to ugpgrade in a yrs time if you dont want to stunt your discus.

IMO........I would not have tigers in the tank with discus eventhough the tigers smaller but due to their nature they would scare your discus when they are on a swim frenzy. In a 39 gallong tank I would say 4 the most with good heavy filtration and water and a lot of water changes and you do not want to play odd man out so go with an even number. A cacatoides would be great with you discus I have Germans with mine and they do fine. :headbang2
