With my experience of cichlids,they will always be a problem as they are so territorial but dont know exactly the ones you have in mind,as for the big cats,id say they will eat anything they can get in their mouths so i would say not a good mix, ive got 2 megalodoras with mine and are fine as they have small mouths,good luck buddy.
i have keep all my polys with CA cichlids at one time or another with no problems, but be careful with large cat fish. I had a 14'' TSN swallow an 8-9'' endli

I think with cichlids theyd do fairly well but Ive heard numerous stories of RTC's and TSN's trying to eat them and almost succeeding until they reached the spikes.. 5% of the time theyre able to spit them back out half digested 95% of the time they choke and both end up deceased
