Depends..what kind of african cichlids, since thats a very general term that covers numerous vastly different species
I know rubbernose aka bulldog plecos do good with africans, also BNs

Peacocks are okay with most plecos...although certain ones are capable of pecking at their eyes...more so if you also include the Mbunas.

I always kept bristle nose plecos with my peacocks and haps...personally, I never had any aggression towards the plecos of any type when it comes to peacocks
