It's risky introducing one cichlid to a tank that only has one cichlid in it. It doesn't matter if they're small or not, I'd say it's a risk man. You could try it and monitor things, maybe get some dithers too and add them all at once?

kewpiefishypewpie . You should rearrange the the decor and such in the aquarium prior to introducing any other Cichlid but adding one probably will not work out.
I'll agree with what's already been said. Adding three or more would help spread the aggression a bit but its still going to be difficult unless you add a handful at the same time
If you take the above advice, (re-arrange, add a few instead of one), it may possibly work in a 240, and since they are nearly (and some may be) the same species it may help. I'd say you've got a 50/50 chance, better if you original is a male, and one of the new ones is a compatible female.
Of course then, a hybridization spawning may also be the result if you get opposite sexes, and get past the territoriality stage.
