Tank size? Enough water makes nearly anything possible

Agree with above,can't give you an answer without knowing the footprint of the tank.
In my experience carpintis can be very aggressive and take over tanks.
Housing only two cichlids can also be problematic.
Also there are more than one cichlid graced with the name red head.
A few more details are required to help with your questions.
