My house
I just bought a Juvie sene that is currently being housed in a very heavily planted 25 Gallon tank for three more days while my recently prepared 55 gallon sets up. I had wanted to get a pleco but have been informed that they are not compatible. Is there a long lived algea eater that works well with a sene or is it best to keep small short lived algea eaters that provide as a food source as well?

I would really like to keep some one who would keep the tank clean that might beable to live peacefully with my little sene and age with it. However, if that is not possible...that's okay too.

Thanks for the help!

There is one it's got two legs two arms and two hands....Plecos Algae eaters "cleaner fish" are superfluous if you dont REALLY want that fish specifically you can do it yourself IMO/IME...

I had Ottos for a few months but that's because I wanted them (in another tank) after I sold them I didn't notice the difference....Leaving a fish to do the dirty work seems lazy IMO

I don't specifically want the fish to clean. I just want a fish to keep my bichir company and share a space with him. I thought a herbivore might be nice...you know a balance to the carnivorous diet of the sene.

However, if a singular tank mate could not be achieved I would still like the possibility of more movement in the tank and so, in those circumstances it would be nice to have a colony of useful fish to live/be eaten by the Bichir....

Once the 55gal is set up you can do a combo of any of these: Congo Tetra, African Butterflyfish, Polypterus Moke, African Knifefish, Peters Elephantnose, Alestes Longfin tetra, Jewel Cichlid, Large Calvus, Ctenopoma, Albino Sen.....those are just a few of the biotope/African fish...I'd keep with 2 AC70(or comparable) and no more than 50" of fish....But your Senegal will not be lonely in anyway
