Thanks.. That's what I kinda figured. The LFS that has the two peacock says they eat only live fish. I feed hikari pellets to my fish. That also may be a problem. I've seen peacocks with real nice color. These fish were kind of blan .. Silver with a few stripes and a black dot on the tail.. Looking for color. So which type of peacock is that?

They were most likely ocellaris.

There's a ton of different cichla all which grow up to look really nice. Juvies rarely look good, unless you find some rare ones. It's been my experience that most fish rarely show their true colors at fish stores... Especially these guys. They do stress easily and typically look pretty dull. Imagine 500 little kids tapping on the tank all day and nets in and out constantly hah.

They WILL eat tank mates that can fit on their mouths. I actually just had a common algae eater eaten yesterday by my 6 incher hah. But cichla can be trained to eat frozen and even pellets. Mine are on frozen but as I said he ate a tank mate.

If you take pride in your stock, don't put these guys in. They're going to get big, and hungry lol
