I have 3 baby pbass. my LFS has some pikes and sun catfish about the same size. Can i add 1 each of these with out much danger to my pbass or the others? I want the pike cuz i like them and the cat to eat leftovers on the bottom of the tank.

They would be ok for a month or so then the pbass would outgrow them and eat them...had it happen....the pike should be able to keep up growth wise, but it would all depend on how much of a meal he looked to the bass....I had to eventually remove my cobra pike due to several harsh attempts at the pbass trying to get him.

I am afraid if i get a bigger pike he would see the pbass as a meal. what colud i put in the tank and not have to worry too much about them?

When they are small it is best to play it safe with fish such as silver dollars, tinfoil barbs ect untill they hit around 6-7", then you can pretty much experiment without worry of them being eaten. One note...stay away from smaller catfish as the pbass will attempt to eat them reguardless of the fins ect...I have and many others have come home to pbass with fins potruding from both sides and the bottom of their pbasses mouths. Keep it safe while they are young...it wont take long for them to get up to size and larger "cooler" fish can be added to the mix.

Thanks diesel! you are the pbass mack!!

I have a pbass (cichla orinocensis) with an ornate bichir and an african pike. The pbass is the smallest at 2" while the bichir is a little over 3" and the pike a little over 2" oh yea and a goldfish that is like 3" that I really want to die. They are getting along really well. I'll keep my eye on the pbass to make sure it does not outgrow the other 2 fish.

I bought the pike. So far so good today anyway. They are all about the same size the pike maybe 1/2" bigger. The pike is chillin in a cave and the bass are hovering around some fake grass. They checked each other out initially then went their seperate ways. I hope it stays this way.
