Ok, my boy loves stingrays, but the largest tank I have room for right now is a 150. I know I can't keep any of the regular, larger ray species in it, but are there any smaller, less popular species that could be considered? I realize that this is probably totally unable to happen, but I figured I'd ask the people who know. Thanks guys!

150 as a pet... get a male Hystrix... fine for life... if you want a pair you will have to find red retics which are not easy to find and very difficult to keep. Hit me up if you need more info

Hell yeah Jay! I really didn't think that there'd be a ray that could work in a 150. I'll probably go with the hysterix if they're not too hard. How difficult is their care? I don't shy away from a challenge, but I want this new setup to be kinda plug and play.

pretty easy... there are some F1 for sale in the market place from Jimr Jimr or ask spotfin spotfin when his next litter will be.

If I was doing a 150 I would be on the hunt for Red Retics like Jay suggested. Seen them giving birth at 6" or so.

Never kept hystrix but i have heard they have great personalities. I may get flamed for this but don't be scared of retics, they really aren't that hard to keep, i knew 1/10th what I do now and I kept 2 alive no problem. From your posts I can guarantee you that you are knowledgeable enough to keep one alive no problem. I miss my 2.

Thanks guys! Now that I know that it's possible, I suppose it's time to start doing some serious homework :)

If you get lucky and find a nice little male hystrix or a true male mini marble, they should work. Both are easy to keep, not impossible to find, and both overall great starter rays.

Mini marble? As in motoro? Please go on...
