How big of a tank do you need to keep one of these?

I would say at least 30g. Def not 10g, even though they are dwarves.

They do great in a double nickle...plenty of swimming room for a couple of pair.

why not a 10? They max out at 4" and if it is the only fish in the tank, why not? Obviously if I see that the 10 is too small it will get upgraded. What is a double nickle?

That would be a 10g tank. I dont know why not, I just like to give my pikes a little more than some other fish would get.

Compressiceps pikes are quite aggressive for their size. They really need a minimum 30g tank for them to thrive.

My dwarf pike (regani) resides in a 75g tank and it really enjoys the swimming space.

A double nickle is a 55 gallon tank.

I think he will do fine in a 10 for now. I do appreciate the input and advice. :)

Ahhhh, I get ,''double nickel''. Learn something new every day. Here I am acting like I knowwhats going on. Im no fishkeeping expert, I just play one online. No doubt, a 55g would be ideal for the little guy. Spoil your pikes I always say.....

don't try to put anything else in there with him (esp. a pike)... it will be a war.
