im sure this is a very basic answer, so i apologize in advance im very electronically inept. so long story short i need to add some airlow flow to canopy, ive already replaced the top once and about to do it again because of the humidity wearing away at the wood (yes its water sealed) so i figured throwing a computer fan or two in there would help move the air around. so i also have two led ribbons running off a dc power supply. can i just hook up the computer fan directly to that power supply? it seems plain and simple, however some of the computer fans i see have two and other have a 3 wire setup going to the pin clip. is that one hot and two grounds? do i just connect the two grounds together and run it into the dc power lines?

The third wire allows the computer to monitor the fan speed, so you wont need to worry about that one. Just hook the red and black wires to your DC power supply and you're good to go.

thank you! like i said, probably an easy answer.

You don't even need a "real" power supply. I have done it a few times just take a DC charger for some electronics you don't need anymore, cut off the cord, and wire it in. Just make sure it is close to the voltage and amperage.

If the fan is spinning away at max speed and causing too much whine you can wire a resistor in to slow them down

thats a bit beyond my knowledge there. whats the cheapest way to do this?
