About a year ago, I purchased a new computer. Set up and running smooth. After about a month, I downloaded Mozilla and used that browser instead of internet explorer.
I don't recall when it started happening, but after a bit, the automatic updates began interfering with my connection through mozilla. So, I would uninstall mozilla, and then just use IE to get to oldapps.com and dl the version of mozilla that was working for me. For the past 6 months or so, I would just ignore the updates until last week I accidentally clicked 'update'... CRAP! So I uninstalled Mozilla again, and to my surprise IE was down as well. Now I have no internet (at home). I've reset my router a few dozen times, I've checked all ports for loose connections, and I've reset all internet defaults.
I was on the phone with my cable company (IT tech) for almost an hour, and they couldn't get me up and running either. He suggested that the problem was with Windows Vista (Home Premium). I don't have a firewall up right now, (but I plan on getting one as soon as I fix this problem) so its not my firewall keeping me out. He suggested that I DL Vista service pack from a different computer and re install it. Another IT guy - a friend, suggested just doing a clean install and backing up my hard drive and re installing Vista.....
HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!
PS - Try to avoid computer jargon because I really only sound like I know what I'm talking about.
PSS - I almost forgot - I have a connection... I can still play Xbox live... (thank god) but I cannot for whatever reason, get on the internet...
