I'm mentally disabled when it comes to computers and need help. I compete in mma and have some of my old fights on burned dvd's. I wanted to put them on my comp so I could edit them into some sort of collage. Basicly what I did was I threw the DVDs in the burner and just copied and pasted the contents onto my desktop. Now I have run into a problem. I want to edit them on windows movie maker but can't seem to import the files because the guy who made the dvd I assume used a different program so it's not loading the files. Windows media player will load the videos but I can't edit them from there. Anyone know a way where I can change the format of the dvd videos or somehow be able to edit them. Please help it's kinda of an emergency

Please and Thank You

You know this is a fish forum right? ;) J/k's i'm sure someone will know but may not repy in time...

Try googling for instructions or maybe try and find a video editing or computer forum?

Whats mma by the way?

Good luck!

MMA= Mixed Martial Arts..... if you have heard of the UFC it's exactly like that, except I don't get paid as much LOL

It will depend on what format the files were created in, what format they were burned to (playable in a standard dvd player or not, burned as raw data or converted to video-dvd), and what format they show up when you view them through 'my computer'. Most formats won't allow you to pull video directly from movie-dvd's and then edit, play, or do anything with them. Kinda defeats the purpose of copy-protection on retail dvd's. Yours (being home-made, I assume) will be a little different though, won't have the copy-protection and such. You will probably still need a decoder to pull the video data from the dvd. I hear *cough cough* that dvd decrypter (found here) is great at doing such tasks, even for retail videos. Windows movie maker is a pansy for video editing, but real programs to do such tasks usually cost some $$.

If movie maker picks it up, great. If not, you could try Nero (a cd/dvd writing software) package that includes a video editing program. I've not used it myself, so I can't comment on effectiveness. You can find it here.

I can't comment on trying to find expensive video-editing software for cheap / free, but I'm sure google could assist with a search similar to "download + video editing software"
