Computer Screen Question... which one is better?

Okay, so i'm in need of a new computer screen for work at home, and i was pretty much set on getting the Dell U2711 Ultra Sharp 27" Monitor, since its 96% Adobe Color tuned ready which is good for me as a designer...

But then because my g/f and family don't know what to get for my birthday, they were asking if i would prefer to have one of the Mac cinema displays since there are two MODEL 1 / MODEL 2?

Now the problem is i'll be using this on a PC, and i think there might be an issue with connecting it...

But for the moment ignoring this fact, which screen would you say is better over all... personally to me, it still seems that the Dell is a better screen... but still want to see what other peoples opinions are... especially if your in the field of design...

Go with the dell. I've used both and the dell is definitely better

Checked out Samsung for a 27" screen and they aren't as good as Dell's it seems...

Thanks... thats what i was thinking, i've used Mac screens a lot, but only really dabbled with the Dell so thats re-assuring...

Thanks, but the HP 27" again doesn't seem as good specs wise compared to the Dell...
 
since they are all spec'd about the same. I'd say go look at them and choose that way. when it comes to deciding the finer points of displays, you really need to be there. it wouldn't surprise me if the LCD screens all came from the same manufacturer.
take a laptop/tablet or DVD/BR player with you so you can compare the display and not the sources.
 
^ sorry, i should have mentioned i've actually seen and used both screens before, but was hoping to see what other people thought of them and if any one else who had used them had an opinion...

Although i think i heard Apple is having a show tmr? So they may introduce a new monitor in which case i'll have to check the out... The only problem is i think even if they release a new screen it will require a adapter to work on a PC...

I have dual dell's at home and love them. I do photography work on mine and they work great for all my color needs.
 
^ Thanks for that info, if you don't mind me asking, you wouldn't happen to have the 27" i'm looking at by any chance would you? coz i'm just wondering does the anti glare effect the screen much? coz i've heard the whites aren't quite right if you get what i mean... although if its only the whites, i can easily live with that...
