You know that sound that your PC makes when you plug in a new device or something? Well mine does it when my fish tank light switches off.

They share a 6 plug extension lead and the tank light is plugged into a timer. I guess its some sort of surge but I know nothing. Anything to worry about here?

Have you tried it with anything other than the aquarium light? Or a different suge protector?

Just make sure your circuit breaker has plenty of headroom. Don't want it to trip and shut down every thing. Esp if your lights are a timer and you not necessarily there when the light turn on/off.

It seems to only do it with the aquarium light, and only when the timer turns it off, not when I do it manually. So I guess its the timer causing it. Doesnt do it when it turns on in the morning though.

Ill try a different timer as, like you say, it could shut down everything I have plugged in and that wouldnt be nice.
