Con Aggression Over Exaggerated

BigPleco gave me a con the other day and I put him in the tank with my GT, jag, and sveni. The con at first was dominating the GT, but then I went out for the night and came back and he was hiding and looked kind of beat up. I thought they were supposed to be brawlers. Well I am going to change up the decor and get some dithers until I can get a new tank for one of them. WIll that work?
 
what is the size difference? a 2inch con isnt going to beat a 8"gt or jag..... yes they are tough mine bosses a gt around and the gt is only just bigger soon the gt is going to turn around and beat her.
 
Depends on size and temperament of individual fish.
 
Although cons are aggressive, they are really no more aggressive then most other SA/CA cichlids. Except when defending their young. I beleive cons will die defending their young.
 
I have heard they are killers when breeding.
 
i dont think that they are cowards. my 2.5 in. con beats up a 4in. bluegill,3.5 green terror, 3.5 in. jag, 2 6in senegal bichirs, a 3.5 in. crencichla sp. belly crawler, and a bigger female con. they dont breed. the crencichla is amazingly agressive and still gets chased!!! i hated seeing my jag and BC getting beat up so i had to remove the con!! stupid con...
