Actually I prefer that my female is larger than my male. When it comes time to breed, the male will usually beat up the female. Since I have a larger female, the male doesnt really do too much damage to the female.

Yup. The bigger the female, the bigger. But then again, some 1.5" male cons may feel intimidated by a 5" female Lol.
But your sizes are great. Considering males will grow faster due to the females constantly producing eggs thus stunting her growth, this is a good idea.
Make sure temp is 78-82F, pH whatever (6.6-7.6 best), whatever hardness, no salt, etc, they are NOT picky.

really lol i breed.. cons.. on the very first day i picked up the pair... haha yeah.. wierd.. dont ask lol

I think mine breed in the bag on the way home from the lfs

lol, typo.

Live food might encourage them to breed. My friends ones didn't breed so he put a towel over the tank for a week and there were fry EVERYWHERE!!!!! They spawned every 4 days.
