I had four green terrors (3 Female and 1 male) in a community cichild tank, no problems everyone got along fine. My male GT mated with my largest female GT, but didn't get the babies out quick enough. The next time my littlest GT layed but the male didn't seem to have anything to do with her, so I didn't think they were fertile, but after a few day, I could see babies growing inside the eggs, so I moved the mom and eggs to another tank with water from my 75 gallon, that night they hatched.

Now that it has been a month and a half, they are starting to get big enough to look at their coloring, the biggest ones have strips similer to convicts but blue on their faces like terrors.

So my question is do young terrors have strips similer to Cons or are they a hybreed?

if the green terrors had them then they are not hybrids but if a con and a green terror mated then yes.

Were they mixed with Convicts? If you say no then you have your answer.

Wow, I thought the question was quite obvious...

A Female GT laid the eggs... there is a male GT in the tank as well as a male Con...

The owner did not see any male fertilize the eggs but obviously unnoticed by him, someone did...

Now that the fry are getting bigger, they look like they might be GT/Con hybrids... but as no male "courted" the female and the owner did not whitness fertilization... he is unsure...

Wow guys… the Original Poster was very clear with his situation and his question…

His female GT laid eggs… he is not sure who fertilized them… it may have been a male GT and may have been a male Con…
Therefore he is asking us what GT fry look like so he can make an educated guess as to who fathered the fry…

I’ve never raised GT fry beyond a half inch or so (fry food!) so I can’t say for sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they had some level of baring. Quite a few species have baring when young but outgrow it in time…
Convicts are well known to mate with anything they can… but Cons and GTs are separated by quite a bit of distance naturally, so I’m not sure if they can easily cross…

Good luck at finding your answer. The best I could offer is raise them a bit longer and see what they look like.

Thanks for you imput nc_nutcase, I will just have to hope they live long enough to tell. Out of the around 600 fry, only 4 are still alive, and they are about half an inch long. My fry I know are just GT tend to have higher survival rates, making me further wonder if they are hybreds.

But it would be cool if they had the markings of a con, mixed with the multi colors of the GT's. That could make a cool looking fish.

:iagree: with nc_nutcase...didn't think the original question was all that unclear. lol

but anyway, i'd be very interested to see what they'd look like if they were hybrid. i've never seen the results of a gt crossed with any ca.

You guys must have ESPN or something because I don't see anything in his post that suggests he was saying what you say he was saying. He doesn't say anything about a "Male Con" fertilizing anything nor anything about Cons even being in the tank but whatever. You answered him. :D
