Ok atm my brother has a con in a 10gallon (I know small). It usually lives in a 50 with acouple other fish but it has been 1 1/4" Since we got it 3months ago. It has some babies in the 10 but when we take them out we want to leave her in there so she can grow to like 2.5". Would this work?

Also my bro has a 20Gallon air pump on the 10. Will this over airate this?

Also should we add something to the tank when we take the babies out so she is not bored? The tank has a sand bottom a good filter 3 small clay pots a fake log 3 plants and a little bit of java moss in one of the pots.

well, i would have thought it would be O.K if he does water changes, 50% weekly and feeds a varied diet, small tanks can stunt fish, but i would have thought it should be ok at this size.

if you're using 10 for grow out, it's fine. your arrangement is fine as well. the air pump is also ok, as your tank is small, and extra aeration is always beneficial. Just can't keep her in there for life.

Good luck.

I think for a female con the 10g might be all right. It's not ideal but she will be ok. Keep up the water changes, as mbunafishkeeper said, and she should grow. (She likely hasn't grown since you got her because she's been caring for the fry.)

And don't worry, I don't think she'll get bored. She'll probably enjoy having a tank to herself. :-)
