For the past few months one of my rays have turned pale in color and extremely shy. She isn't skittish but every time I come up to the glass to feed she hides in sand. I never see her eat but she still seems to be fat. Her base color has probably lighted up by 3 tones of brown to pool filter sand tan. I treated for parasites many times and also still no avail. Highly unlikely she is pregnant but she has a large hump and her tail is thick so she must be eating. Water temp is 78 and water quality is fine... little high in nitrates but I do water changes 3x a week... 10-15 ppm. Any ideas?

Pics?

Is this a major change from her previous behavior and none of the others have changed? When in doubt I treat with prazi and salt and maybe creap up the temp. Hope it all turns out.

is she much smaller than the other rays in the tank?
i recently had a small 7-8' female marble in my big 1200 gal tank with a bunch of larger rays. she got along with everyone but all of a sudden stopped moving around a lot like she usually would before she went into the big tank with the big guys and slowed down on the eating. in my case she started to get darker but im assuming its because the tank is somber. i moved her back to my 120 pup tank with the geos and she came right back around. no clear indication as to why she behaved the way she did. she didnt hide though all she did was sit still for long periods of time.
