I have had my motoro for just over a month. she is housed in a 125 for now with a small Dat, Geo and BN Pleco.

Water parameters as of writing this
Ammon=0
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=15ppm
PH 7
Temp 80

Water changes done 2x a week at 25% conditioned with Prime
I test the water daily and parameters are consistent.

The only thing that has changed is that I have been slowly been bringing my PH up with crushed coral. Over the last week I have brought it from 6.8 to 7 so it would be the same as my tap water.

What you see in the video is what she has been doing for hours on end for the last cpl days. She still eats like a champ. Earthworms, market prawns, scallops, shrimp

Is this something I should be worried about as she never used to act like this. She still occassionally swims everywhere else in the tank but spends most of her time doing what you see. She used to go up and down the glass all over the tank...front, back, sides....now she sticks to this one side and does the weird arching of her back like she is trying to bite the glass.....Is it the change in the ph value maybe????

Your thoughts would be appreciated

water params shouldnt affect it if they are correct - have you tried moving the root to the middle of the tank and see if that helps? might just be that the ray hasnt got much room to move around the object?????

That root is her home....she has plent of room in the rest of the tank and like I said, she used to "wash the glass" with her body flat in that very spot before.....now she is doing this weird arching of the back like she is irritated or agitated.....I am looking at her now and she is still doing it!!!

She is acting like a regular fish that incessantly swims up and down the glass!

I have two that do that. The other sits in the fx5 return for hours. They have a lot of energy.
How often do you feed her??

I feed her 2x a day...slowly feed her over a 15 min time frame or until she stops eating...never leave any "leftovers" in the tank

what i mean is move the ornament to the middle and see if the behaviour changes.....

Looks normal to me. In the video there is alot of reflection on that wall, maybe thats what affects her. Looking at her self, getting annoyd. Maybe she think that she looks ugly, and want to crush the mirror :p

+1 on seeming normal. On another note, your ph is completely fine. No need to mess with it.

OK Thanks guys. I just adjusted the PH to get it consistant with my tap water. When I put her in the tank 6 weeks ago the PH was at 6.6....and my tap is at 7...so i have been slowly getting the tank to meet the PH of the tap so there would be no fluctuations during water changes!

If she keeps doing this I may move the stump into the middle of the tank. She will follow it there as she likes to take refuge under it!

Thanks again for the advice.

Cheers
Tim
