I am going to be switching from gravel to pool sand in my 55 gallon tank that has a 7" poly, 4" poly, 5" ABK, and 4" AT Dat. Is it safe to add sand directly in after removing all gravel and decor?

It is already cleaned, 20 grade from Leslies... Just need to know if fish need to be removed or not.

Quick reply appreciated. ;)

nope, just turn off the filters and dump cup fulls as close to the bottom as possible to avoid it stirring too bad. they'll be fine. I've dumped in bucket fulls before just clouds the water a bit. no worries.

I've used a few hundred pounds of Leslies PFS ove rthe years... good stuff!!!

Despite it being prewashed, I highly suggest you wash it yourself. In the process of shipping it grinds against itself and some amount of dust forms. It washes fairly quick and easy, with a bucket and hose, but if you get it in your tank it can unnecessarly clog your media and ruin some types.

As far adding with fish... no problem... as mentioned, just submerge the containse/cup you are using to the bottom then pour...
