i always wanted a concrete pond =[ cuz it seems alot easyer to build but if it cracks your done? i beg to differ cuz u just fill the crack(s) in with plaster it seems alot easyer to maintain, but thats just me...

concrete sorta like a regular swimming pool?

ive heard that regular concrete will eventually crack if used for a pond, dunno for sure, something to look into!

If your willing to put in the effort they can be done.

The base is critical don't skimp, especially if your in a area that has freeze/thaw.

I built mine above ground using bricks and a concrete shell. A cement additive was used to reduce water content in the mix to prevent cracking, mainly because I was pouring in 30+ degC.

A rubber sealant called Clearpond Pondseal was then used as a final water barrier and stop any lime leaching into the pond.
If it ever does leak, drain, clean spot and seal again with the sealant.

I have two ponds now out of concrete and I'm super happy. I would say have a high concrete to sand ratio and make sure the bottom dirt is well compacted. Some well done re-bar floor support doesn't hurt either. I used a concrete sealer with a latex base for sealing after its done. Doesn't seem to bother the fish.
