So heres the deal. I have 2 Emperor 400's and a Magnum 350 on my 125.
Current stock is a silver aro, a clown knife, and a tire track eel.
I want to add more filtration to the tank but i want to eliminate noise from my filters and i want to do a DIY.
Should i do a sump or an overflow? If a sump, how big of a glass tank sump box?
I have been looking at different ideas and am still confused about the hole process.
I also have a spare magnum 350 base and all of that equipment from that. Could any of those hoses/ power module be used in my new sump/overflow as returns/ ins?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Tyler

get on ebay and type in 4stage canister filter. Its big, white canister. they call them sun sun filters. they push 525gph and they have plenty of bio area! SUN SUN actually makes marineland canister filters from what i heard.... and they cost about 100bucks shipped to your door. I have 2 of them, and they are practically maintenance free!!

If you want to do a sump you will need an overflow or some sort of siphon to move the water from your display to the sump. As far as sump size goes, it depends on what you want to put in it and what you are trying to accomplish, bio or mechanical filtration, both? A good starting point would be a sump at least 25% of the size of your display.

I have a couple of Magnun 350's - I'm not sure how you would use just the base as a pump, you need the canister, impeller, etc. If you have all of those goodies, you could probably use it as a return to the tank but I do not think it will be very efficient at this. I would look for submersible pump instead, or if budget allows, go with an external pump and free up some room in your sump.

Yeah i have everything from my magnum and was wondering if i could somehow use this to pump my water back to my tank. I would use bio media and try to stay away from mechanical.
Aj- I will def look on ebay at those. Thanks
