alright so i have a very small black piranha (maybe 3 inches tops) in a 10 gallon tank, he'll be in a larger tank in less then a week. So anyways Ive had him for about a month ish and hes been eating like a pig, hes been feeding of broken up market shrimp. But just recently i thought he might have some sort of fin rott problem so the person working at my local fish store told me to use Melafix. Well since i started treating he doesnt want to eat anything i threw in some market shrimp, he put it in his mouth and then imideatly spit it out. So anyone know why he would just randomly become disgusted with the market shirmp hes been feasting on for the last month? should i swich teh food up? ugh confused, btw hasnt eaten in almost a week now, UGH:confused:

can you post your water parameters and pics of your fish?

ph is like 7.3 i think it might of been the temp, just went and checked and the temp was 71 when its usually like 80, guess the heater died or somethin didnt even think to check the temp, had another heater sittin around so i just put it in my tank, gonna have it heat up tonight, hopefully that will fix the problem

parameters as in ammonia, nitrates, nitrites. ph is kinda not the issue. i would say that 10 gallon tank is doing a number on him. but ya they temp needs to be higher than that. good luck with him!! and oh change your location cuz P's are illegal in our great state of mass.

yes the 10 gallon tank is the problem.i had a rhom in a 20 gallon and it had some tears in its fins. it wouldnt heal for at all for like 3 months while i had him in there when i moved him to his current 60 gallon tank the fins healed fully in a week, 10 gallons is a sin, the only reason i had my rhom in a 20 is because he was given to me from somone who didnt want it so i didnt have the time to prepare a good sized tank. imo they shouldnt make 10 gallon tanks. hope you rhom gets better, what size tank are you upgrading too?
