Confused?

Would a polyester gel coat waterproof a plywood tank? The tank is going to be 48"l, 48"w, 24"h. Would this product be ok and how much would I need for my tank http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/p-1418-polyester-gel-coat-ral-9005-jet-black.aspx

I reckon it would water proof it yes, but as i have said before i wouldnt use it alone, i believe it sets hard with no give, so if your tank does flex it is possible to crack the coating.
To work out how much you need is to work out the area you are coating and you will need 1kg per sqm. i would of the topof my hjead for your tank with one viewing window get 5kg for one coat.
