Congo puffer freaking me out

He's turned a dark brown color. The two weeks I've had him he's always been a light brown. He had a feeding frenzy yesterday and did a water change just now and checked the params since I know they're sensitive to and everything is good to go. For a few minutes after the water change he turned light brown but now he's dark again. He ate a shrimp that went right by him as I was writing this. I can't find much info. I'm just hoping he's just changing dark for no reason.

And now he's coloring to a lighter brown at this moment. My heart can't take this lol this is my favorite fish buddy.

Update again. I made him get up and move and he's light again. Possibly resting? He's been in the same spot since last night. He had a big meal.

^ they can change color due to mood, and sometimes after a large meal i've seen them turn darker almost as if to say leave me alone...

As long as water params are fine and he isnt showing any other symptoms you can pretty much chalk it up to your puffer being moody lol...

Okay thanks a ton. I was getting a bit afraid. He's doing good now. He has a big belly still.
