Is this a bracksih water species?

Can they be kept in a 30 gallon tank?

Can they be kept in a 180 gallon tank with a couple SA cichlids such as oscars, convicts?

I know its an impulse buying thing and I would never feed anything that big to my puffer but here is why I am suddenly interested in a puffer:

Thanks

they are a pure freshwater species, a single one would be fine in a 30 gallon and keeping one in a 180 with cichlids would be risky. they are stealthy ambush hunters so if a small enough cichlid happened by towards the bottom where the puffer was hiding, it most likely would try to make a nice meal out of it. puffers are generally best kept in species only tanks with a couple of exceptions. I'd get one and put it in a nicely planted (real or fake) 30 gallon with lots of wood and other things to provide shelter with a nice sand band for the puffer to burrow in. :)

Ya, thats kinda what I was thinking of doing with this spare 30 gallon tank I have here. thanks for the info.
