I comend all who are working to fight HR 669. As for other sites "What are you waiting for?" Some other sites don't have any info about HR 669. People if you are also on other sites wake some of these people up about HR669. I saw some that have nothing pertaining to this bill. They like to knock MFK down all the time thinking they are the "experts" well if this bill passes they will be experts only in their minds! Keep up the good work MFKer's.

This forum has done an excellent job. Our petition has somewhere on the order of 800 signatures. It is also important to get the word out to every pet store in your area. Print out the PIJAC pet alert and make sure your dealers are aware. Also make sure your fellow hobbyists and other forums you use are aware and encourage action.

They had signs about it and pamlets at That Fish Place's aniversy sale and at a exotic reptile show i went to. Breeders and people are getting the word out.

Allen,

I agree that MFK did a great effort to bring this to attention to hobbyists and get the ball rolling. It was extraordinary and demonstrates the weight this site has. I didn't even know MFK had something going until I saw a post in http://www.nycichlids.com and it trickled out from there.

While I am a member here and I don't bash this place, I am also members in other places. Without knowing specifically what places you are referring too and who would be trying to knock MFK, I really don't think that all matters anyways. Not defending anyone that might knock MFK, but some reasons why you might not see a posting on other sites, just off the top of my head:

Site size and member activity. There are a number of places that may have a nice looking site, but chalked full of bot names to boost a member count. They really aren't as big in numbers as they look.

Site agenda's vary really. A place like here at MFK is truely amazing in that it's very diverse and has a tremendous base of experienced keepers. While size I mentioned above factors into a smaller base, it also limits the agenda and direction of their impact in the hobby.

Please forgive me if this is a violation, I am not trying to target attack any place, but just to show what I am talking about, a place I used to be a member of http://www.fishlesscycling.com The agenda of that place was to educate people about the merits of fishless cycling, and it grew in members and became a place for younger people to basically hang out and goof off, doing little to nothing for the hobby. I doubt places that are similar in make up like the site here would have much on their agenda to take up the fight like MFK.

All in all though, it takes nothing away from MFK and in fact i've seen it said that if anyone can make an impact on this bill, it would be MFK due to their sheer size and makes me proud to be a member here myself. Whatever other sites are doing or even not doing, hey man, who really cares anyways? If they wanna knock, it's out of anger and jealousy they can't be like us.

If something stupid happens like them trying to ban keeping native aussie fish in Australia, or something weird like that, I'd be confident that I could count on this site to help back us up. Luckily there is, and probably never will be anything that bans us from keeping natives here, lol.
