ok to everyone that read my post about Conkelli cichlids at a LFS....here are a few pics i took today of them when i was there. i used my cell phone so forgive me for the pics.

ok now can anyone say what these guys REALLY are??
 
Looks very similar to the ones I seen around here with the exception that the ones around here had more darker coloring.

Conkelli... what a joke. It's a hybrid out of Conkell's ponds that he named after himself. Definitely has Paratherpas blood in it.

That's like you crossing a firemouth with a convict and then naming it after yourself as if it were a new species recently discovered.
 
Looks like a pink fenestratus. How can you be so sure it's a hybrid?

Of course, I could ask myself how sure I am that it's pure. (I'm not.)
 
What makes me lean towards a hybrid is there isn't any consistancy with the patterning. The ones I have seen around here vary as for as dark coloring, pinks and oranges.
Plus I have heard of many rumors about hybridization from his ponds from rain and flooding. Just rumors though so I can't validify anything. Plus if it goes on in his ponds it probably goes on in most all the ponds down there.

Yeah I thought that was a little weird.. :screwy:

I agree with Modest it looks like pink fen. blood in it, but I think it's crossed with something else to me..
