well im setting up my 150 soon and im adding a sump. so i need to find a container that will fit in my stand. so i hear everyone saying use a rubbermaid but im having a hard time finding one that will fit in my stand. it has to be less than 16" wide to fit. so i would thinking about getting 2 smaller ones and cutting off the ends and then reconnecting them to make one longer one. using some type of glue/cement/silicon. what do you guys think?

You can just create a water bridge between the two. Use a pipe the same diameter as your drain line.

You can also cut some holes in the containers and join them with PVC and bulkheads.

One last thing - Try K-Mart and look for the Sterilite brand tubs. They are a little more square, sturdy, and have different sizes. Rubbermaids are prone to bulging under pressure.

build a sump out of wood and use pond liner?
then it can be custom dimensions
:)

i think i might end up doing that but i wan to look around for some pre-made ones first

Use the 2 containers, just mount one higher than the other and have an overflow pipe from that pour into the lower one and then gets pumped out from there. No tricky joins to make (and fail later). Just sitting one on some bricks or 4x2s will get it high enough for an overflow pipe to go over the lip of the other container.
