Connecting 2 Tanks

[Convict Cichlids]

Under My 55g Stand I Can Hold Two 10 Gallons
One 10 Gallon Currently Have A Pair Of Convicts With Fry
The Tanks Are 4in Apart
I Would Like To Know If There Is A Way To Connect Both Of Them Together Using An Air Pump
I Would Like To Have Small Amounts Of Water Flowing Back And Forth Both Tanks So They Can Have The Same Temp. I Would Like To Use Only 1 Heater

I would like to create something from pvc.
I dont need fish to swim through I just need water from tank 1 to go into tank 2 and water from tank 2 to go into tank 1

Yes you can do it with PVC but if the fish can fit in it they will pass thru it with the current. You could put a small canister intake on one side and the out put on the other. But none the less how Joey did it is how its done

lets say i decide to do this with 2in pvc
what can i use to block off the ends so fry wont travel from tank to tank

Not much cause you don't want to restrict the flow too much. Maybe overflow caps but I doubt that would make a big difference.
