TM im buying a pair of convicts for my 10g, do i need gravel??? and will they eat the fry?? and i dont have a light for it, will this pose as a problem??
you do not need gravel nor light. They will not eat their fry and will protect them with their lives. Put a flower pot in the tank so they can breed in it. You will need a bigger tank to grow out the fry.
If they are ready to breed they will lay eggs on just about anything, below is a pic of a couple of escaped feeders that spawned in my 120g. With lots of driftwood and plants to choose from, yet they chose the glass to lay the eggs on.
Not true, I have my 3 breeding pairs in a bare bottom 55 gallon, they have been there for 3 weeks and have yet to breed. Matter of fact it has been at least 2 months since any of the 3 have spawned.
Of couse the 6" female Jack Dempsey that is in there with them may have something to do with it. She is the ruler of the tank.
