I have a 150 gallon bow front. It has a fx5 for filtration currently. I have two smaller canisters I could add 405's. I am also considering a sulfur nitrate reactor. I have photos and day lilies along with water sprite planted on the tank already. I would need to remove a bit of rock work to open up floor space. Could I keep a single specimen or a pair of hystrix for life given adequate filtration? What about tankmates? Thanks for any input you guys can provide.

I wouldn't bother with the nitrate reactor I used to run one on my 350 and it was pointless

They are ok on marine tanks that you need to do everything just to drop the nitrate a fraction but in a ray tank it's just not worth it due to the high nitrates you get from rays and the fact they can tolerate hoggish nitrates it's pointless

You can't beat good old fashion water changes to lower nitrate if you want to move with the times run a drip system

The tank is a bit small in my opinion
But if you stripped everything out from the centre with just a few bits at the ends it may work for some time with a pair or single male
