Hello,
Though I have monitored this forum for a long time, this is my first post.
I was recently able to obtain a 155 gal bow (6ft long x 2ft high x 18in on ends, 24 in in middle wide)
I am an experience fish keeper, having done so for years, but this is my first foray into keeping "Big" fish.

I am considering stocking with a school of silver dollars, 3-4 datnoids and possibly a black or silver aro.

My concern is for the aro as this will be my last tank, I just cant fit anything larger in the house.

Visually, it looks like a 20"-30" aro would fit comfortably in the tank, but a 36" to 48" monster would not.

I have done alot of reading, but cant seem to peg what the "typical" max size on blacks and silvers are in home aquariums. I see 48inches "in the wild" posted regularly, but my home is far from the wild.

I know this has probably been discussed a hundred times, but I would appreciate any feedback from folks with firsthand experience on keeping these fish long term.

I am very conscious of the long term welfare of my fish and if they do typically get in the 36" to 48" range I will not obtain one.

I am posting from the US, so Asians are unfortunatly not an option.

Thanks in advance.

I have a regular 150g and everyone has told me that black and silvers need at least 200g or so. From what I know, I would say your tank is too small for a aro for life.

That tank is too small for an arowana longterm, but it would be perfect for a black ghost knife to be the centerpiece fish.

Thanks for the quick response folks, sounds like the aro is out.

I will research the BGK, any other suggestions for a larger fish that would work with the Dat's would be appreciated.
