I'd like to get either an albino or regular Senegalus, but the ones I'm looking at are tiny (albino is 6-7in and senegal is bout 3in).
I have an Ornate Bichir (approx 11in), an Oscar (7-8in) and a Jack Dempsey (8in) in a 240L (63 gal) tank.
My questions are:
1) How big should the new Bichir be before I can safely put them in the tank with the big boys? Safely as in not being swallowed lol. I do realise that I'm going to need a bigger tank soon.
2) How big should a grow-out tank be for the senegal? I am looking at a 900 x 400 x 600 (LxWxH) (3'x15"x2'), is it big enough?
3) What is the likelyhood of the 2 Bichirs getting on? Will the eventual size of the Ornate be a problem?

just get one thats at least 8-12 inches. no the size wont matter with the orante i have seen and kept huge ornates with small sens but u never know its the personality of the fish. if they start to get mean put it in a diff tank.

my vote is to reconsider the whole idea and get either another ornate or lap-Anne
you might also consider a bigger tank if you want to add more big fish a 240l is a little small considering adult sizes of the fish you have just a thought

get a bigger tank Anne is right, I had no problems with Senegalus with Ornates regardless of size.. but there is always that one time

i was thinking more about the oscar or Jd both can be agressive and territorial

Yeah I'm definitely going to get a bigger tank soon, got to move house first. I'm hoping to upgrade to a 6ft. So far the JD and Oscar are great, don't bother anyone *yet*.
Can't afford another Ornate :( Would love one though! Can't afford a larger one either, and we can only get very small ones at this stage...
Slightly frustrating!
