I've had a Large Mouth Bass for about two years now, and despite a 10% water cahnge and gravel vacuum literally every other day for that entire time, I am constantly battling with some kind of worms. I thought that they were planaria but was looking through some pics and now I'm not so sure as they are straight instead of having the spade shaped head.
I've done entire clean outs trying to get rid of the little buggers but they still return and I think I'm just going to have to resort to chemical warfare on them, is there a medicene or chemical that is safer for large predators than the others or have any of you guys had a similar problem and found a better solution? If I do get rid of them, how can I keep the little buggers from comming back in the future?
They don't seem to bother my bass, but they are an eye sore and their numbers increase exponentially sometimes seemingly overnight and I'd like to be rid of them once and for all. They are thin tiny whitish squiggly things roughly 1/8 to 1/4 inch in length and are the same thickness head to tail so I'm not sure if they are planaria or not honestly.
Thanks in advance!

if they are too small to take a pic of then they are harmless you are probably overfeeding the tank if they are small squigly they are harmless trust me i bet you cant see them from far away you probably need to stare into the tank and look from close

What size tank? How big is the bass? What kind of filtration do you have? Worms are often found in tanks that are overstocked, under maintained, under filtered, etc. You generally should not have to use chemicals to lower (or even remove) a colony of worms.

It's a 55 gallon tank, will be upgrading this month to a 150 though when we get our tax refund, he's just about 2lbs now and growing fast. I have three hanging filters, two 100 gallon and 1 40 gallon filter, and a whisper 100 air pump. He get's a water change and gravel vacuum every other day religously, so the tank is fairly well maintained, if not overly so. He eats pretty much anything, but primarily is eating minnows from the bait shop, earth worms, bugs and crayfish from the creek etc. We are on well water, so the water is pretty decent quality and as frequently as we are changing the water out, he doesn't really have any issues with nitrates or PH.

What's freaking me out is that we can do an entire clean out, reset up the tank, and the worms return in a matter of days. Geez, these things aren't in our well water are they??!?! I've read some Fish forums that suggest using heart worm pills for dogs, but the dosage per gallon isn't worked out well and with him being a large predatory fish, I don't want to take any chances really, we love Mook lol. I know the worms are probably harmless but they sure are an eye sore and even adjusting his food intake doesn't seem to starve them out. Any of you guys had any luck with worm-icides?
