Hi all,

I just purchased about 20 peacocks or all types to populate my new 170g. I'm not concerned with interbreeding on this.

My main concern, with over half of the cichlids being females, is how do I control fry as I don't want an explosion of peacocks in my tank? I also have 3 ropefish - will they help eat the fry?

Some of the fry will be eaten and killed by the other Peacocks and the Ropefish may eat a few.

consider adding some nimbochromis, Livingstonii, venustus, fuscotaeniatus etc are all pretty good choices and still very attractive. They are larger species and can sometimes be a little more aggressive but it shouldn'tbecome a problem if you stock wisely.

I typically only have one or two fry survive in my overstocked 75. I also have alot of hiding places. All my mbuna and peacocks go wild for a live meal.
