What do you guys think of this? http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B000KNU3WC

If there is a say almost 8000g pond will it be able to control the humidity levels? I chose this one because it has a drain so you could let the evaporated water back into the pond.

Btw, this is kind of urgent. I need to convince someone that the pond will not destroy the garage and that no condenation will occur on the walls.

Thanks :)

Well... the link you posted said there were no matches on the target web site. But I'm guessing you linked to a dehumidifier. You really shouldn't drip the water from that back into your pond. I don't know how that water would be after being condensed on a copper coil. You might as well have a big peice of copper in your pond. And for the humidity thing... I would just get a cover. The cover will help a ton with your heating cost. I tried using a dehumidifier on my 300 in my basement, but with no luck. The water ended up condensing on the sky lights in the upstairs bedroom (needs new drywall now).

Now you could possibly vent the roof in the garage to let out the humidity, but you will be losing a lot of water. My 300 gallon is about 6' across and is about 76-78 degrees. The room temp is about 73-75. When it was uncovered, I was losing about 5 gallons a day to the air. Thats cuased a lot of problems(sump running dry/humid air/the"fish room smell"). With that being said you might be able to run a drip system on your pond and vent the humidity out through the roof. Your drip would have to be massive though... atleast 5 gallons per hour for it to be worth while drip system. My guess is that you will be losing about 10-15 gallons a day to evaporation(I don't know your conditions(surface area/room temp/water temp), but that is my guess).

ooops... repair beat me to it.

here is the right link.

I did not know about the dehumidifier using copper to collect the water from the air. I can not use it then because copper is deadly to the fish I wish to keep.

Regarding the air exchange and vents, the garage is situated underneath a room and I can not create any vents in the roof of the garage. Is there any cheap ($100-200) way to prevent humidity damage for 6 months in a garage that measures 25x30x10 with a circular pond that measures 18'x4' at a temperature of 78*F?

Any paints?

Is it a finished garage or just studs and open walls & ceiling. If so Thompson's waterproofing works well on bare wood for this.

Got a pic of what we're working woth?

can you set the amount of humidity the dehumitifyer takes out of the air? we have a huge one in our bacemnt (no fish just nc humidity) and it programed to keep the humidity under %55 it just drains to the back yard.
