Does any one know how to construct a wooden stand capable of supporting a 120"Lx36"Wx36"H tank. It would also need to support a sump of around 72x24x24".

Ta.

4x4 legs works wonders, but every 2 feet is overkill. I would go for every 40 inch or so...which would give you 3 openings for storage and sump. If you do want 4 opening tho, then just put more legs :)

for the rest I use 2x4, make sure to have cross-sections everywhere or it will move. 4 legs and a top/bottom IS NOT enough. You need braces to support, I put them in the back and on the sides.

Better safe than sorry.

You could copy my 55g stand its in my gallery more than stong enough you could even leave out the center support, pics also in "the most overbuilt stand ever " thread

4x4 legs 10 of them spaced out evenly. build a top and bottom frame with 2x6s standing upright not lying flat. with heavy nails put the 4x4s in side each corner once they are in take another piece of 2x6 and sandwich the 4x4 leg do this with each set of legs then take some 2x4 and run them longways to prevent anyside to side movement. I'm gonna try to post some pics.
