Is it possible? I have a 40 gallon glass aquarium i used to use for my iguana (before he died). Is there a way i can reseal it to make it hold water? Or would it already retain water? Dunno if this has been done before or even if it can be done. Thanks a million!

If it was sold as a reptile tank, it probably has thinner glass than an aquarium of the same size would. You might be able to brace it enough that it could hold water, but you're probably better off just buying a fish tank or building one from scratch.

no wonder the iguana died if it lived in a 40gal tank. my iguana is 4.5ft long! and is still growning.

its really not as good an idea as the other way around (turning an aquarium to a herp tank). Your best bet is to either sell it and buy a used tank or just find another herp to house in it.

very tru on the thickness of the glass i have a 40 gal rep tank its thinner . i wouldnt trust it with that much water .

As a general (specific to some) thats a bad idea..

Iggie may have wrecked the silly-cone, the glass on the botom of the tank is likely thinner.. My tank bottoms are tempered (much stronger) and herp tanks are not tempered (i.e. not usually made for rocks gravel etc...

There are other reasons as well.

But, simply put, I agree that it would be best to not use it & look into other options.

what about a 20 gallon then? less water, glass is about the same thickness and such...

could work is it a 20 tall or long ? most 20 long are reptile tanks . not to say it wont work but the thinner glass could make for a big mess cause it could cracked easier. post some pics of the tanks
