LFS has a couple NTT's. One is in fresh the other is in brackish (do not know why). I will be picking up the one in fresh water but would like both. Since I have no experience with brackish setups I need a bit of help.

Would a normal drip work to acclimate it from brackish to fresh, or is this something that really needs to be done over the course of days/weeks?

i think the drip would do just fine if you did it really slowly but if you just placed it in the fw tank it would be cruel but i don't think that would kill it either

PH is about 7.0 - 7.2

And I definitely will not be just throwing it in the tank. I won't even be picking it up if it requires a longer acclimation then a drip. I do not have a brackish tank to start it off in.

The more info/experiences the better - Thanks

are you sure the NTT is in brackish? because the only dats that are slightly brackish are the AT and NGT...

Yes I know what species are brackish and what species are not. This fish is currently in a brackish set up at the LFS with columbian sharks, scats, and puffers.

My problem is not the caring of dats, I've been doing it for years. I never had a brackish set-up and do not know how to acclimate a fish from brackish to fresh. This is the info I need.

Has anyone done this with a Dat?

LFS often put Dats in brackish water for some reason. Drip it back to freshwater over the course of a few hours.

I agree. Keep an eye on it. If its too fast of a change it can fungus out like archers or throw off its equilibrium, causing it to swim weird. Best of luck and let us know how it goes

i got a IT form a brackish set up and drip acclimatised it over about 3 hours with no problems. as long as you drip it for more than an hour i think it would be fine

Great, thanks for the info. I think I'll give it a shot.
