hi, i have read the posts about converting pbass from live to pellets or shrimp, but i'm still a little bit confused. so please help! :)

My pbass (mono) are about 3-4 inches and take feeders. barely bloodworms......:irked:
also they arent at the stage where they come to me begging for food. they wait till all the feeders are swimming in the tank.

please tell me the techniques u have done and succeeded.
thanks for the help :D

also, if you know how about a tsn? same situation.

also what kind of pellets do u use? name?

i have been trying for 3 weeks with only luck being my azul taking silversides they wont touch anytihng else.the peru mono is very smart and will hold out. im trying to break him

i see.....
i haven't even tried anything with mine yet.
good luck!

azul is fat bc hes the only one eating the silver sides. i wnt go back to feeders!!!

it will only begin to work when the cichla are waiting at the surface for you to drop food and hit anything. even if they spit it out, youre getting there. that guy sounds a little young, give him what we wants now. he'll come around slowly

What I do is get 5-6 fish that eats pellets or whatever, and keep them in the tank. Every single cichla I have owned has gone to pellets/shrimp.

You have to get them to the point were they are beggin for the feeders and hitting the surface. If I were you I would make sure my fish only eat when you are infront of the tank.Try not to bother them by moving things around in the tank so that they feel more confortable in their home. I would also start to cut back on the feeders a little just to get them more hungry. Maybe hold back on the feeders completly for a day or two here and there. Then try some dead feeder or silver sides and they will hit it they may spit it out but they probably wont if they are hungry. Once there eating dead stuff try fish fellet and or shrimp in small thin strips. They might start rejecting the preped food and you might have to go back a step to get them to hit the surface again. Just keep trying, at first they might only eat it when they are hungry. After a little while they will love it just as much as the feeders. Things that might help are if theres other fish in the tank eating the preped food. Also try to feed them in the same spot of the tank; choose a corner or a power head works well too. It is alot easier to get them to eat pletes of dried foods than fresh stuff. Just have some patience some fish are easier than others.
Good Luck

My best advice is: don't try. I have 7 peacock bass and they have been on freeze dried krill, fd bloodworms, and pellets since day one. I got them at 2". I would imagine I had good luck by making the krill and bloodworms in a sort of powder together and throwing it in the outflow of the filter, they probably thought it was a fly of some sort, hehe. But I actually do suggest getting them to associate you with food, that is the best thing you can do.
